It doesn’t matter how tall or short somebody is when it comes to college education. Yet, for those people who are considered ‘short’ there are certain challenges they have to overcome in life. Just as there are challenges for tall people, especially with regard to affording clothing, comfort, and more, it’s nice to know there are some opportunities specifically set aside for these individuals.
In the world of short people scholarships, there are limited opportunities. In fact, there is only one official scholarship that is specifically set aside for people of short stature. In order to qualify for this particular scholarship, a person needs to be a member of the Little People of America and in order to qualify for that they must be 4’10” or less in height.
The benefits of scholarships.
There are numerous benefits when it comes to scholarships. Many people have a tendency to struggle to pay for tuition, books and supplies, and other basic expenses of a college education. During the past 40 years in the United States, a college education has continued to escalate out of control financially. It has outpaced inflation by more than 20 times.
There are many different opinions about why this has happened or how to encourage people to go back to school or continue their education out of high school. A lot of students are becoming saddled with student loan debt once they earn their college degree and it makes it difficult for them to save for their retirement and other important events in life.
Relying on scholarships is a great way for many people to afford their college education. People who begin looking into scholarships will ultimately realize that the more they apply to, the greater their chances of receiving financial support and assistance.
Some scholarships may only award $100 as a one-time support system to students. Other scholarships can be in the amount of the entire tuition for the student. Most scholarships are based on merit, which means students need to exhibit strong academic grades, have taken part in extracurricular activities, and possibly even volunteered for community work.
This doesn’t mean students who didn’t earn good grades in high school are not going to qualify for certain scholarships. It’s important for the student to understand certain requirements of any particular scholarship before applying. Most scholarships require an application form to be filled out, an essay, and some require a financial affidavit. The scholarships that are based on need will likely attract numerous other students applying for the same scholarship.
Depending on the scholarship and the student, it could take anywhere between 30 minutes and several hours to fill out one single application for a scholarship. As a result, it’s imperative that the student pay attention to the details of every single scholarship they are interested in applying for and only focus on those that give them the best opportunity to earn that scholarship.
Scholarships paying for college education.
More and more students are beginning to realize the benefits of relying on scholarships, whether they are for short people, tall people, or anyone else. Some students earn many different scholarships that ultimately cover their entire tuition, books and supplies, and basic living expenses. That provides them the opportunity to focus on their studies rather than having to work multiple part-time jobs just to make ends meet.
